Driving Traffic

It’s difficult to find an audience.

Often for new contenders in a space, they need to make a big splash or risk becoming a memory.

It’s the same for established brands too, being forced to constantly connect with their audience and maintaining brand relevance wherever possible.

But how do you do it? I’ll show five strategies that companies use to drive more traffic to their sites

1. Emails

One of the most crucial ways that brands are able to communicate with their audience is with emails.

Whether a newsletter or just an email blast, emails can be a great way to maintain contact with their audience even when they aren’t top of mind.

For brands like Starbucks, sending emails about your favorite drink or star count can be great to getting someone back through the door.

While for brands like Abercrombie, new clothing line launches or products you might be interested are great ways to have people thinking about what they might want next time they stop in.

2. Social Media

Social media has become one of the major ways that companies have chose to interface with consumers.

Companies want to be where the people are as much as possible, which means embracing social media.

Through Twitter (now X), Instagram, and TikTok, if companies aren’t there you risk being out of touch, and not understanding your audience.

It has led to a wide number of companies taking on a more lax approach to their social media accounts. Some of the most notable ones being both Wendy’s and McDonalds, two that have made this transition and had it go well.

While that approach might not be the best, it has most certainly became the #1 way to get straight to consumers.

3. Email Offers and Pop-ups

Email pop-ups are just as important as emails themselves as well, being the offer or incentive for customers to stick around.

For most brands, using discounts, priority access, and more are ways to get people engrained in the product, becoming more than just a customer.

Once you got people on board, it creates a group that the business can target easier. What styles do they like? What are they shopping for? All can play together to make a company work better and smoother for the customer.

4. Advertisements

While all of the previous strategies rely on fairly new forms of connecting with your audience, advertisements are one of the classics.

Ads come in all shapes in sizes, and can be both physical or digital. For most brands, ads are the crucial backbone to staying relevant today.

Every brand uses ads, and with the emergence of platforms like Facebook and Google, companies are able to target people down to some of the most niche aspects, like age, shopping history, gender and more.

But, that doesn’t mean print advertisements are dead either, as often some of the most creative ads we see nowadays are when you are in person.

iRobot is no different, using ads everywhere. It also shows how ads can come in any form , using gifs, photo banners and more. 5. Influencer Marketing

5. Influencer Marketing

While all other forms of attracting traffic have become fairly established at this point, the one that is the most new is influencer marketing.

Influencers are just any person that has a sizable following on a social media platform. Right now some of the biggest emerging influencers are coming from TikTok, one of the largest social media platforms out there.

These people are essentially paid to just talk about a product to their audience, as research found that fans are far more likely to go buy something off of a recommendation from an influencer than a random ad.

Out of all these strategies, working with influencers have quickly become one of the most used forms, with most people unable to scroll through any platform without some paid promotion.

Overall, these strategies are essential for any business to gain a following. It is how audiences now interact with brands, and how they will for the foreseeable future.
