Creating a new Bradley and Wall
Bradley and Wall is one of my absolute favorite food shops. With delicious and homemade sandwiches, pastas, and more, it is just everything I want it to be.
However’s what I don’t love is their basic and 100% a WordPress template website.
With the menu bar crossing over into two lines, the online ordering button just hovering in no mans land, and the infinite lines of text down when listing their specials, it really screams something done in a day and with not as much love as they put into the food.
Mood Board
Starting off, I wanted to try and capture that sandwich shop feel. Well after looking into it, it seems like almost anything can be a sandwich shop feel, with so many amazing examples of great design and layouts that it made it hard to just choose one.
I wanted both a clean and modern feel, but also feel like an authentic Italian shop as well. These really helped shape what I wanted to go for, though I know that imagery is going to be core as well in order to have a decent product in the end.
Color Palette
For this design, I really wanted to keep Bradley and Wall’s original color palette, as it is already fairly strong as is. The only addition I made was adding a few more neutral colors and also a strong green as well to play a bit more into the healthy aspect.
Overall I really love the ways that these colors play together. Once they are all working together on the site it will really add some cohesiveness throughout.
Site Map
When working on the sitemap for Bradley and Wall, I really wanted to cut down more on the navigation, as one of my main problems I had was how everything just seemed to spill down to two or even three lines on the page.
So, simplifying these into just a few categories with some drop downs will make the experience much cleaner and easier for potential customers just looking for the menu or how to order.
Wireframes
Wireframes are always my favorite part, and this one is no different! When designing this site, I really wanted to play into a cleaner modern aesthetic like I saw through my mood board studies.
That meant cleaning up aspects across the page, and making components feel cohesive, like they all belong together. Then also using the color palette to ensure we are keeping the classic Bradley and Wall look even through the changes.
I love how these wireframes look. They just feel so elegant while still having that pop to it. Everything just feels like it flows and guides viewers down the page, while also using CTAs (Call-to-Actions) to get people to order.
Overall, I am extremely excited to start fully building out these pages! I really love the way all these aspects from the mood board, palette and site map come together to make a really cool wireframe that is able to emphasize those elements.
It will be interesting to see as well how my actual building of the site itself will differ from my initial concepts and wireframes, as developing sites is never as straight forward as we want it to be.
Nevertheless, I am so proud of this project so far and what the future of this design holds.
