An Email to a Client

Hi Amy!

Thanks for reaching out! I’m happy to address any concerns you might have about your branding, especially regarding the use of photos and videos online.

For almost every business under the sun, they need an online presence. For some, a website works just fine, serving the information that people often search for about your business, such as with a restaurant listing their hours and menu. However, for most, we’re going to need to put in some work to get noticed.

Social media is a great place to start, as it is important to go where your audience is. For consulting work, being on these platforms can be the make-or-break difference between choosing you versus a competitor.

That’s why I recommend starting off by posting pictures of yourself, your business, and anything relevant to you so people can get to know you. Be transparent! That’s what clients are going to respond to.

Especially now, it isn't easy to be an online-only business, as we aren’t given the traditional guarantees that physical businesses have, like the ability to walk up and ask for an immediate consultation. We compensate for that by looking deeper online, through sites like LinkedIn and Instagram, and using that as our storefront.

LinkedIn is now an excellent way for professionals to connect with one another. It provides that cooler-side chat that many people miss when online while also being a gathering for business discussions and current trends.

By allowing yourself to be yourself on these platforms, you can have these chats as if you were talking face-to-face with clients. However, that requires letting a part of you be online and losing some of the privacy that we want when dealing with strangers and companies on the internet.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

You can craft the kind of person you are online and hide any information you don’t want visible. Give a brief description, a headshot, and some background on your accomplishments and previous work, and you’re set!

It’s important, though, to be you, and that means providing more photos and videos of yourself and your business through meetings you attend and things you do at home. Make people believe you're real, as it’s so easy to become a bot in people’s eyes, causing you to struggle to find new clients when you need them most.

Be willing to let your guard down, as when starting a company in your name, you need to be able to back it up and make a name for yourself, let the world know who you are and what you can do, otherwise risk falling to the wayside.

I would love to help you through this process, show you the ins and outs of social media marketing, and show you how you can leverage even more functions like email or web to continue growing your brand and being the best you can be.

Let me know your thoughts, and we can start crafting the right journey for your business!

Look forward to hearing from you!
